Director/Owner, Lead Teacher for Preschool and Pre-K Programs

Hi! My name is Melanie McGrath and I am director and owner of ABC Preschool and Learning Center here in Brewer. My husband, Dennis, and I purchased ABC in the summer of 2016. With my staff, I run the day-to-day operations and lead teach our preschool program. I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary education and physical education from Husson University, as well as 15 years of experience in special education. We look forward to continuing our legacy of distinguished early childhood education.

Hi everyone! My name is Dennis McGrath and I co-own ABC Preschool with my wife, Melanie. I am mostly a behind the scenes guy, taking care of taxes, payroll, and purchasing. I am currently in my 14th year teaching 5th grade at Brewer Community School. I have a bachelor's degree in business administration and elementary education, a master's degree in educational leadership, and an advanced certificate in technology education. In my spare time I love hanging out with my family and our 2 mini dachshunds, Cooper and Bella.

My name is Heather Umel. I grew up right here in Brewer where I married my high school sweetheart, Ben. We have raised four beautiful children, Hunter, Braiden, Riley, and Prestin . I absolutely love all the children I get to teach and take care of here at ABC! In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and my fur baby Willy . I look forward to being your child’s teacher!

Hi! My name is Miss Kristen. I have been a teacher here at ABC since 2012. I graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in early childhood education. I live in Brewer with my husband and two boys. We love spending time outdoors fishing and hanging out at camp with family! I am so fortunate to spend my time teaching and watching kids learn and grow!
